1.  Draw a diagram of OSP’s cash flow cycle. Explain the cash flow difficulties described by Josh and Dave (Refer to “An Opportunity Knocks” case-in-case). 2. Discuss OSP’s “replicable sales process”. Why is this issue so important to OSP’s success?

3. Draw a diagram of the “sales equation” that Josh mentions in the case. Estimate the numbers at each step.  (*** Draw a diagram. Do not post on site. Instead, describe the process in text using bullets.***)

4. Prepare for an in class sales role-play meeting between the On Sale Promos team and IBM.  Develop a list of key questions and concerns that the IBM team might have as well as an approach for the On Sale Promos team. Goal for both: Close the deal during the meeting.

February 19, 2009

Skill Bulding: Financial Literacy

READ: Case study and excel sheet (The excel sheet emailed to you Thursday). Complete the readings for this session, first, before embarking on the exercise.

BLOG: questions below.

LINKS

Art Gallery Case Study

Excel Sheet (EMAILED TO YOU – we cannot upload excel on the blog)

MORE DETAILED DIRECTIONS:

Read the case study in conjunction with the excel document that was sent to you via blackboard. Page through the tabs of the excel document to familiarize yourself with Jane’s budget and financial statements. Focus on “tab b.”  Complete the following questions and post your comment here.

- 1. Look at Jane’s start up costs. Do you agree with her assumptions? Why or why not?

- 2. Take a stab at converting Jane’s start up cost model and assumptions to your own venture. If you don’t know numbers, DON’T stop, look at “tips and tricks” section of the blog and fill in missing numbers based on suggestions there. Add or remove line items as you see fit.

Blog about it here.

Answer question #1.

For #2, explain where you got stuck – and your interim solution – as your answer. Talk about specific resources you used and provide links if helpful. If you called study group members, mention that as well.
